Pelvic floor physiotherapy
Assessment and treatment for bladder, bowel, and pelvic pain concerns, in a private room with an unhurried appointment. Find what you're dealing with below, and we'll walk you through it.
What can we help with?
What it feels like
Leaking urine when you cough, sneeze, laugh, exercise, or lift something; a sudden, strong urge to go that's hard to control; or needing to use the bathroom more often than feels normal.
What usually causes it
Weakened or uncoordinated pelvic floor muscles, often related to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, chronic straining, or high-impact activity over time.
Your first visit
Your physiotherapist completes a comprehensive pelvic health assessment — a detailed history followed by an external, and where appropriate, internal pelvic floor muscle examination assessing tone, strength, and coordination. Every step is explained beforehand, and internal assessment only proceeds with your full, informed consent, which you're free to withdraw at any time.
How treatment helps
Treatment applies individualized pelvic floor muscle retraining — targeted strengthening or relaxation techniques depending on whether your muscles are weak or overactive — combined with bladder retraining strategies to reduce urgency and leakage.
What to expect: Many people notice meaningful improvement within 6–8 sessions, though full pelvic floor rehabilitation is often a longer, gradual process.
